Who does DHSV cater for?
If you have a health care card or pensioner concession card, you can access public dental services in Victoria. All children 13 years and under are eligible for public dental care. There are costs associated with public dental care. The cost is set by the government each year. Some special needs groups do not have to pay these costs.
If you don’t have a current health care card or pensioner concession card, you can still receive emergency dental treatment at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne for a fee similar to that of a private dentist. In this situation, a part-payment is required before the treatment begins, with any outstanding amount to be paid on completion of the visit. Dental care provided by undergraduate students under the supervision of qualified oral health professionals is free of charge to eligible members of the community.
