What to do if you feel unsafe
Security is on site from 6.30am to 11.00pm weekdays and 7.30am to 11.00pm weekends.
Security can be contacted by:
- pressing a duress button (if located in your area)
- calling the ground floor meet and greet desk on x1002 (if guard at desk)
- paging (phone 1300 / pager code ‘107’ / your contact number)
If you ever feel unsafe or uncomfortable in a situation, do not hesitate to press a duress button. The duress button has a direct link to the pager carried by RDHM’s security guard who will attend immediately.
In case of emergency, dial 0 000.
How to report an incident
Report all incidents to your supervisor or manager who will advise you on how to fill out a Security incident report form (available from our Forms page).
Thefts
Unfortunately, theft does occur around the Hospital. Please report any thefts to your supervisor immediately. You should also contact Facilities Management so that they can liaise with Security to try and recover the stolen items.
A police report may also be necessary in some circumstances. If you need to call the police, please inform Facilities staff so they can work with the police to have the incident resolved.

Using your proximity card
Ensure you carry your proximity card with you at all times.
For your safety, the details on your proximity card are recorded when you use it to gain access to a secure area. For this reason, do not permit non-staff members to enter a protected area with you.
If you happen to lose your card, please report it to Facilities Management immediately so it can be cancelled and a new one issued to you. This will prevent any unwanted people from using your card to gain access.
