Orientation and induction

The induction of new or transferred employees is an essential element in developing a supportive and high performing culture that refects DHSV's values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Excellence.

Consistent implementation of this procedure will assist to reduce staff turnover and absenteeism, and boost employee satisfaction.

There are two aspects of induction at DHSV:

  1. A general DHSV orientation workshop that is available to all employees.
  2. An individualised induction program that is tailored to the new employee’s job role, department and unit.

1. Orientation workshop

The workshop provides a general overview of DHSV to new employees and takes place approximately once per month.

New employees will be automatically scheduled to attend and managers will be notified of details. For further information, please contact Employee Services Officer, Petar Jurcic, on x1143 or jurcicp@dhsv.org.au.

2. Individualised induction

The manager is responsible for arranging the individual component of induction. This should include:

  • a tour of the work site and any other relevant locations.
  • personal introductions to relevant staff and managers.
  • an overview of administrative areas/tools.
  • an explanation of cost centre arrangements (where applicable).
